This year Norfolk Fencing Club was well represented at the Cambridge Winter Tournament on 6-7th January 2024. Our coach, Luke Hewerdine, attended to support our fencers on both days of the competition (supported by Peter Bear).
Saturday saw some of our Men’s Foilists in action. Micheal Naulls placed 21st, with Dominic Harvey came 31st and Ashley Waller came 51st. While Matt McLaughlan who fences at the UEA was 33rd.
In the Men’s Sabre, John Terry represented the club and placed 35th out of 45.
On Sunday, the epee competition was held. The Men’s Epee event was large and tough field with 72 competitors entered. We were represented by Adam Hickford coming 40th and Rob Froud placing 59th.
While Lane Parker who fences at the UEA came 12th and Josh Cornish-Barlow from Cromer came 64th.
In the Women’s Epee competition, Clare Hill represented the club by coming 20th.
In addition, Sophia Pickering was assessed for her Level 2 Epee Refereeing qualification which she successfully passed.
